Ever since we can remember, we have always wanted two children. Our daughter Alexa was born 8 years ago but unfortunately because of secondary infertility, we are unable to give her a brother or a sister.

Our family
We met 17 years ago in Florence, Italy while Jennifer was studying abroad. We have been married for 12 years and have established our family in Enrico’s hometown of Florence. We are proud to bring up our daughter in an international atmosphere. She is bilingual and speaks both Italian and English fluently. We celebrate American and Italian holidays and try to teach Alexa the best of both cultures. Growing up in a bicultural environment makes a child feel special. Alexa is always being told how lucky she is to speak English and be able to travel to America often. She loves Florence and living in Italy but lets everyone know that she is half American and half Italian.

About Jennifer
I was born and raised in the U.S.A. I spent most of my childhood in a university town in Pennsylvania. My parents are divorced and I grew up with my mother. I had always dreamed of going to Italy and was able to study there during the university. I moved there after graduating from college and never left! I work part-time for an American university so I am able to take Alexa to school and pick her up. Part of my job is organizing family events for the employees of the university. Every year I plan a Christmas party, Easter Egg Hunt and “Bring Your Child to Work Day”. I am very active in Alexa’s school and was the parent representative for her class. When I am not spending time with Alexa, I love to read, shop, travel and go to the gym.

About Enrico
I was born and raised in Florence, Italy in a traditional Italian family. I work in the family accounting business doing personnel work for small companies. Like most Italian families, I speak to my parents on a daily basis. They are a very important part of my life and I want my children to grow up having the same type of strong ties to family. I enjoy gardening, cooking and outdoor activities such as biking, fishing and going to the beach. I’m a very active dad- I like taking Alexa to museums, the park and I have just started taking her fishing with me. We enjoy cooking together and even just relaxing together watching TV.

About Alexa
Alexa was born in Florence, Italy in 1999. She attends a public Italian elementary school and enjoys taking dance and swim lessons. She loves to socialize and goes to all her classmates’ birthday parties. She is active and lively but at the same time can be very sensitive. Most of our friends have younger children and in spite of the age differences, Alexa plays very well with them. She has a maternal instinct that shines through. She would make a great big sister!

Our home
We live in a spacious, one-level, three-bedroom condominium. We totally redid the entire condo when we bought it four yeas ago. We are in a kid-friendly neighborhood which is close to Alexa’s school, lots of playgrounds, parks and shops. We love cats! Our older cat ‘Hiedi’ has been living with us for the past 13 years. Alexa recently picked out a kitten and named it ‘Stella’. We feel that children shoud be brought up with animals- they learn responsibility by taking care of them and in return receive a wealth of love and attention.

We all go through very difficult periods of our lives and considering adoption will be one of the most important and courageous decisions that you will ever make.
